Our Beliefs
As Bahái ís we believe that we are essentially spiritual beings, here to have a physical experience, to learn everything we can about God, to grow to love Him, and to return to Him.  That there are many worlds of God, and this life is just the first of many.  Our beliefs include Prayer, Fasting, Meditation on the Word of God, and that “deeds not words” are our adorning.   We are striving towards the betterment of the world, and that this can only be accomplished through pure and goodly deeds, and through commendable and seemly conduct, and service to mankind. There is only one God and at various times He sends His Messengers to guide us through the spiritual development of our lives.

The Principles and beliefs of the Bahá'í Faith

The Oneness of God

The Oneness of Religion

The Oneness of Mankind

Independent Investigation of Truth
“..No man should follow blindly his ancestors and forefathers. Nay, each must see with his own eyes, hear with his own ears and investigate independently in order that he may find the truth.”

The Essential Harmony of Science and Religion
-..Religion and Science are inter-twined with each other and cannot be separated.

The Equality of Women & Men
-..Daughters and sons must follow the same curriculum of study, thereby promoting unity of the sexes. When all mankind shall receive the same opportunity of education and the equality of men and women be realized, the foundations of war will be utterly destroyed.

Elimination of All Forms of Prejudice
-..It is racial, patriotic, religious and class prejudice, that has been the cause of the destruction of Humanity.

Universal Compulsory Education
-..Partaking of knowledge and education is one of the requisites of religion. The education of each child is obligatory.

A Spiritual Solution to Economic Problems
-..Bahá'u'lláh set forth principles of guidance and teaching for economic readjustment. This readjustment of the social economic is of the greatest importance inasmuch as it insures the stability of the world of humanity; and until it is effected, happiness and prosperity are impossible.

An Universal Auxiliary Language
-..A universal language shall be adopted and taught in the schools and academies of the world. two languages will be taught in the schools, one the native tongue, the other an international auxiliary language.

Universal Peace Upheld By a World Government
-..Should differences arise they shall be amicably and conclusively settled by the Supreme Tribunal, that shall include members from all the governments and peoples of the world..

The Bahá’iTime Radio Programme

The Bahá’í were invited to join Community Radio Hamilton [now FreeFM] in September 1999 and we have developed a programme that brings our beliefs and Faith to the people of Hamilton, and to all Bahá’ís in the listening area live or online.

To have a voice in the community, and to have somewhere for our own community to listen to items about our Faith, we are enormously grateful for. It has been a wonderful opportunity to have gained a listening audience, in conjunction with FreeFM Access Radio opportunities, and we are looking at an ongoing development of our programme which at present covers, Bahá’í Prayers, Music, Talks on and about our Faith and belief, including Quotes from the Writings of our Cause, and interviews. We use many languages and ages to represent all the colourful variety of the people of the Bahá’í community.
